It was observed that the abstention rate was 18% for individuals in the e-cigarette group compared to 9.9% for the nicotine replacement crowd. The study concluded that when accompanied by behavioural support, e-cigarettes were more effective for smoking cessation than nicotine replacement therapy. Although these results seem promising, scientists are still conducting more research to establish the safety of e-cigarettes as a reliable means to quit smoking.
