The hoax website Cnnews3.com published a story that was presented as a ‘breaking news’ report from CNN, in which there were claims that bananas in an Oklahoma Walmart store have been examined and proven positive for HIV.

According to their story, a ten-year-old boy had consumed a banana that was bought by his mother at a Walmart in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the boy had been immediately rushed to the emergency room due to fever, fatigue, and chills, seven days after the consumption. The health condition of the boy was examined in details and the blood tests and scans showed that the boy is positive for the HIV virus. Furthermore, eight more children, all younger than 17, have been diagnosed with the HIV virus within the month of March.

Everyone needs to know that this story is not true and it is not even scientifically conceivable. This information is an absurd hoax with no actual basis. Not a single authority report or any credible news confirms these claims and stories in any way.

It is a fact that the HIV virus can only survive in the human body. moreover, this virus cannot be detected immediately after contraction (not even seven days later, as said in the case of the false story). The HIV virus can be medically detected after a minimum time of four weeks after the infection has taken place, even though it can often take up to six months before sufficiently enough traces of the virus show up on tests.

Bananas that contain red-brown streaks which resemble blood actually contain bacteria that cause these streaks. This bacterium is called Banana Xanthomonas Wilt (BXW), and it can be transmitted to other plants as well via contaminated plant material, soil, knives, and even through the air.

When a plant is infected with this bacterium, it will normally start dying back without yielding any fruit. Nevertheless, there are some instances, even though pretty rare, when adult plants can be infected and the bacterium infects the fruit as well.(hoax-alert.leadstories.com)
