Chinese Companies Are Mass Producing Plastic Rice And It Could Cause Serious Health Problems

Some sources say that in China, plastic, fake rice has been produced in the previous four years, and it is still on the market. The media in Singapore have reported that this “rice” consists of potatoes, sweet potatoes and toxic plastic. It has the shape of the normal, natural rice but cannot be cooked well and remains hard even after the cooking, causing serious health problems.

This is the China’s Wuchang rice. It is well known because the real Wuchang rice is popular for its smell and it is also very expensive; double the price of the regular rice, the Blue Ocean Network reports, an English Channel I China.

A journalist who wanted to remain anonymous discovered that the production of this fake rice includes just a small dose of the real Wuchang rice and the rest is plastic rice, sprayed with an aroma to replicate the original rice smell, and is then packaged and distributed across the country. It was said in the report that every year 800,000 tons of the real Wuchang rice are produced, and 10 million tons of the same rice are sold, plastic or another kind of rice, meaning that more than 9 million tons are fake rice.

If someone consumes three bowls of this rice, it is the same as they have consumed one plastic bag. That is a very dangerous thing and can cause serious digestive problems, or can even be fatal if someone consumes it on a daily basis.

The average daily consumption of rice in China is half a pound of rice. According to the distributors, selling rice in great amounts is quite profitable, the Korean Times reports.

The truth about this fake product started to become revealed when the distributors started selling this rice outside China. It is said that you can find it in Indonesia, India, Singapore and Vietnam.

The National Food Authority of the Republic of Philippines is examining the reports on the topic of the plastic rice which is being sold in their country, and keeps using a handheld “spectroscopy device” to identify the rice, which can cause huge health issues if consumed in great quantities.

In the United States no traces of this fake rice have been found, and the officials in most of the countries deny its presence as a concern. This is a lesson that teaches us to be aware of the sources our food comes from and to remind us to buy food from companies we really trust.
