You probably wonder what that thing is. Well, it is a stroke that results of damage to the blood vessels in your neck, due to the strain and jerky movements the salon’s shampoo sink creates.

A woman has reported that she had once noticed a sudden weakness in her left arm and left leg nearly a week after she had been to the hair salon. The following week, the same woman was rushed to the hospital due to nausea, projectile vomiting, and a head very hot to the touch.

According to the doctors, she had suffered a stroke.

What is a stroke?

The stroke is an illness that results of restriction of the oxygen in the brain. Once a blood vessel is either damaged or blocked, it causes abnormal blood flow or even clotting. When the blood flow is being reduced, it finds its way to the brain and manages to kill brain cells. This leads to certain physical consequences which can be different, depending on the region of the brain that it has impacted. For instance, if the damage is done in the left side of the brain, the consequences will include problems with speech and language or problems in the right side of the body. If the right side of the brain is damaged, then the consequences include vision loss or problems in the left side of the body. According to statistics, stroke is being the number 5 most common cause of death in the United States, and the number one most common cause of disability. 40 percent of the people in the USA who have suffered a stroke are men, and 60 percent of them are women. The risk of stroke increases with age. Nevertheless, eighty percent of the cases of strokes could actually have been prevented.

Symptoms of stroke:

  • Drooping face
  • Impaired speech (the person may sound intoxicated)
  • One-sided weakness
  • Vision loss, double vision, or spinning vision

Furthermore, make sure that your diet is balanced and healthy. In case you consume foods too high in cholesterol, trans fat, and sodium, you should know that you are significantly increasing your risk of stroke every day. This is why you should concentrate on consumption of whole foods with healthy fat content, use other alternatives to salt for flavoring the meals, and watch the consumption of sugar.

In addition, be active! If you want to save your health, you should not only watch what you put into your body, but you should also watch what you do with it. If you do not exercise, you increase your risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, and stroke.
