Why The Diet Soda Industry Is In Decline
The soda industry is in decline lately, in fact they have been suffering for the last decade. This is caused by a healthier lifestyle people are now adopting around the world.
Those well informed on soda have started to avoid the beverages in order to improve their health. Consequently, companies like Coco-Cola and Pepsi Co. have lost a big part of the market place which is slowly disappearing.
Low calorie sodas such as Diet Coke, Coke Zero and Diet Pepsi have become unpopular, and have become unpopular to people like you and me. People have found different solutions to enjoy in a alternatives with the toxic nature of these drinks.
Coca-Cola and Pepsi Co. are aware of this situation, as the sales of low calorie drinks have decreased 20% in the last five years. People are no longer purchasing foods that might damage their health, which is alarming for these companies.
These dying brands may have to explore other options to gain back market share from plummeting sales they’re experiencing. Perhaps a reinvention is in the works for these big brands, because people are growing wise to toxic ingredients.
CAN THEY BE SAVED?
This year sales have dropped by 5%, and are forecasted to decrease down to a third by 2019. Because of this situation, Coca Cola is working on their new product-Coca-Cola Life, claiming to be a healthy alternative. Also Pepsi Co. presented their Pepsi True, hoping to increase the sales in the near future. We don’t know if these new sodas will be a successful solution, but one thing is certain, the people have made up their minds when it comes to what product they will decide to choose. These ‘natural’ solutions will likely not affect the primary target 18-36, and this problem will more likely go out of control damaging the sales. It will be very hard to save the companies like Coca-Cola and Pepsi Co. because there are a lot other drinks out there and the people have found many ways around them.
IT’S NOT LOOKING GOOD
You can’t blame a well-informed population that seek a healthier lifestyle. They will not go back to old habits and consume something that will cause obesity and instead they are looking for something that will have beneficial results for their body. That’s why companies like Coca-Cola and Pepsi Co. will find it hard to survive moving forward unless they adapt. It is obvious that there is no place for diet soda in the future. With new brands and healthy solutions, people will have many options to choose.
The future without soda in our diets would not be surprising. We should all continue to change our ways and improve our future.
