Homemade Cough and Cold Syrup
This is a recipe of homemade syrup that boosts the immune system and helps in fighting cough and cold and their symptoms.
This remedy is tried and proved to be effective. It is recommended that you take it at the first signs of cold or cough, as soon as you notice them.
The ingredients used for preparation of this remedy are very powerful and efficient, and have strong healing features.
Many studies have shown that honey is as effective as the cough medicines in fighting cough. It is abundant in anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory nutrients. Also, honey is good for the white blood cells because it strengthens them and helps them deal with viral and bacterial disease. You only have to beware that the honey you consume is raw and is not heat-treated, because if the honey isn’t raw, the enzymes and beneficial nutrients are lost.
Lauric acid is the main nutrient found in the coconut oil and it kills viruses, bacteria and fungi. It deals with infections perfectly. When this oil is digested enzymatically, it forms monolaurin, a monoglyceride. Monolaurin is also good for killing bacteria, viruses and fungi.
Lemon is abundant in vitamin C and flavonoids, which are great for improving the immune system.
Cinnamon is a spice with strong antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties.
This homemade remedy is not recommended for children under 1 year, because they’re not allowed to consume honey.
– 1 juiced lemon
– 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
– 3 tablespoons raw honey
– 2 tablespoons coconut oil (melted, unrefined)
1. Mix well all the ingredients, but don’t heat the honey, because it loses its beneficial enzymes. If you must heat it, make sure the temperature is the lowest possible.
2. Every time you notice some symptoms of cold or cough, take one or two teaspoons of this remedy, 3-5 times a day.
