These people should know that this is pretty bad, because cell phones emit electromagnetic radiation whenever they are on, meaning that sleeping with one next to you will boost your exposure to it during the entire night. What should you do? You should put your phone on “airplane mode”, because this option shuts down the transceiver, or you should completely turn it off. If you need to receive some calls, at least locate the phone several feet away from your bed.

According to this article, 44 percent of the cell phone users have slept with their phones next to their bed. This is not advisable at all because gadgets with LED screens give off ‘blue light’ which can stop the production of melatonin, a hormone that helps the regulation of sleep.

Decrease exposure to cell phone radiation

3. Restrict Talking Time – if you limit the time you spend talking on the cell phone, you will limit the exposure to cell phone radiation. You can also text people instead of calling them and thus reduce the exposure to the cranium to potential radiation.

4. Distance – the PBS advises that you should sleep away from your cell phone and avoid carrying it in your front pockets.

5. Ignore the Hype – this might not be a tip for limiting the exposure to cell phone radiation, but it is always good to keep things in perspective. As there are no proofs that cell phones are associated with cancer, it probably is not worth feeling too anxious in regards to the extensive publicity on cell phones and cancer.
