Swiss Company Turns People’s Cremated Remains Into Diamonds

A company from Switzerland has taken an unexpected and fascinating approach to memorializing our loved ones who have passed. The company is called Algordanza, and they will super – heat and compress your loved one’s cremated ashes and turn them into a man – made diamond that can be cherished and worn.

They began with a chemical process extracting the carbon from the departed’s ashes. Then they heat the carbon to as many as 2,700 degrees Fehrenheit and subject it to forces as high as 870,000 pounds per square inch and convert it into graphite. The graphite is then heated. The color of the finished diamond, depends on the boron content of the ashes of the deceased and can range from dark blue to white. The prices begin at 4,259 Swiss Francs ($4,474 USD) for a small diamond with no additional service.
